This policy explains how Sentrix ("Sentrix", "we", "us") collects and uses your personal data when you visit https://sentrix.org.uk, buy from us, or use the Sentrix app for iOS and Android. We are the data controller under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

Order & contact details — name, email, shipping/billing address, phone (if given).
Payment data — handled by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not see or store your full card number.
Usage & device data — via cookies/analytics when you consent (pages viewed, device, approximate location, ad interactions).
Support messages — anything you send us by email.

The Sentrix app

The Sentrix app is the companion to a Sentrix GPS tracker you have bought. It is free, contains no advertising, and we run no analytics or tracking SDKs inside it. This section covers the data the app and the tracker handle.

What the app collects

Account details — your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google or Apple. Needed to create and secure your account.
Phone number — verified by SMS one-time code. We use it to call you automatically if your vehicle is moved without its key, so you can silence the alarm or ask for a live location.
Precise vehicle location — your tracker reports its GPS position, battery and status to our servers so the app can show it on a map. This is the core function of the product.
Trip history — a route is only recorded while a vehicle is in alert state (moving without its key nearby). Normal driving is not recorded.
Your phone’s own location — used only while the app is open, to centre the map around you and to scan for your Bluetooth key. Android requires the location permission for Bluetooth scanning; we do not store your phone’s position on our servers.
Notification token — an identifier issued by Apple or Google so we can send you theft alerts. It identifies the installation, not you.
Device diagnostics — connection events and errors from your tracker, so we can tell a real fault from a flat battery.

Photos stay on your phone. Pictures you set for your profile or your vehicles are saved in the app’s own storage on the device and are never uploaded to us.

Why, and our legal basis

To run the tracking, alerting and account features you paid for — performance of a contract.
To keep the service secure and diagnose faults — legitimate interests.

Who processes it

Only providers we need to deliver the service, acting on our instructions: Google Firebase (account sign-in, database, Android notifications), Apple (iOS notifications and Sign in with Apple), Expo (delivers the notification to your device), Twilio (the automated theft phone call), and Google Maps (draws the map). Payments for the SIM subscription are handled by Stripe on our website, outside the app. We never sell your data and we do not share your location with anyone else. Some providers process data outside the UK/EEA under appropriate safeguards.

App permissions, and what each is for

Precise location — to centre the map on you and, on Android, to allow Bluetooth scanning.
Bluetooth — to detect your key fob and to set up a tracker.
Notifications — to alert you when your vehicle moves without its key.
Camera and photos — only when you choose a picture for your profile or a vehicle. The image never leaves your phone.

How long we keep app data

Trip history — automatically deleted after 30 days.
Diagnostic events — automatically deleted after 14 days.
Account, vehicles and key fobs — kept while your account exists, and deleted when you delete it.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account and its data at any time from Settings → Security → Delete account inside the app. Full instructions, and what happens to each type of data, are on our account deletion page.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

To process and deliver your order, provide warranty and support — performance of a contract.
To handle payments and prevent fraud — legal obligation / legitimate interests.
To measure and improve our website and advertising (analytics & ad pixels) — your consent (which you can withdraw at any time).
To send service emails about your order — contract; marketing emails only if you opt in.

Who we share it with

Only as needed to run the business: Stripe (payments), shipping/fulfilment carriers, our hosting/email providers (including Cloudflare), and — only with your consent — Meta and Google for advertising measurement. We never sell your personal data. Some providers may process data outside the UK/EEA under appropriate safeguards (e.g. UK IDTA / Standard Contractual Clauses).

How long we keep it

Order and tax records are kept for as long as the law requires (typically 6 years). Analytics/marketing data is kept for shorter, provider-defined periods. We delete or anonymise data when it is no longer needed.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any right, email support@sentrix.org.uk. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
